Insufficient vocational guidance work as a reason of staff shortage in medicine

Abstract

The survey among students of S.I. Georgievsky's Medical Academy of V.I. Vernadskiy Crimean Federal University was conducted. It was revealed that majority of interviewed students choose their future profession on the basis of incomplete or incorrect information. As a result, their opinions about the future profession and compliance with it were changed during studying at university. In the first year of study, 89.2% of respondents are ready to work in the specialty, but after 6 years their number falls to 75%. The obtained results indicate the shortcomings of vocational guidance work.
