PERSONAL, SOCIAL AND HEALTH EDUCATION AS PART OF PRACTICE-ORIENTED TRAINING OF DENTAL HEALTH PROFESSIONALS

Abstract

Provided continual economic development and healthcare system modernization, the current labor market requires human resources that are able to withstand competition, independently plan their work, as well as conduct a detailed analysis of their professional activities.

Under these conditions, the current goal of the system of higher professional education of medical workers, including dental health professionals, is implementation of forms and methods of practice-oriented training as part of multi-level training of specialists, with the purpose of acquiring theoretical knowledge in the process of professional skills and actions implementation.

The conceptual basis of this area of work of the Department of Pediatric Dentistry of Kursk State Medical University was the development and implementation of an extracurricular work program using the contextual training format with inclusion of students in the process of organizing and convening practical sanitary preventive measures for children and adults in Kursk.

In order to analyze the effectiveness of this form of field work in terms of acquisition of professional tasks and resolving situations by future specialists in conditions of "real practice", an original questionnaire was developed and student survey for determination of formation professional competence level was conducted.

The research methodology is based on a comparative analysis of the results of statistical processing of personal data of dental students of II, III and V courses and on external expert evaluation of faculty in specialist disciplines.

The conducted study allowed forming the competence profile of students, determining the most significant practical competencies at different phases of the educational process at the specialist level and confirming the necessity of using active methods of practice-oriented education to develop clinical thinking of medical students specializing in dentistry.
